precu_zimes_home Trademarks are protected by the Latvian “Law on Trademarks and Indications of Geographical Origin”, effective since July 15, 1999.  Full text of the law can be found at the Latvian Patent Office’s website.

  A trademark is a sign that can be graphically depicted and is used to distinguish goods or services of one undertaking from those of other undertakings, and is protected by a registration certificate.
Trademarks can be verbal, graphic, combined, and sound marks.

  In regard to trademarks we render the following services:
  • search of identical or similar trademarks;
  • execution of trademark application documents for filing with the Latvian Patent Office;
  • recordkeeping of trademark documentation;
  • representation of clients before the Board of Appeal of the Latvian Patent Office or court in cases of trademark disputes;
  • performance of European Community and International trademark registration procedures;
  • provision of filing documents regarding changes of trademark owner, name or address with the Latvian Patent Office;
  • consultancy in regard to drafting a licence contract.
